Our Company

Built for the work that deserves care

Emberlane Partners was formed around a single conviction: that some of the most consequential thinking an organisation does deserves more time, more structure, and more honesty than it typically receives.

Our Story

How Emberlane Partners came to be

Emberlane Partners grew out of a frustration that many senior leaders quietly share: that the consulting market tends to reward speed, volume, and confident-sounding frameworks, often at the expense of the kind of careful, honest thinking that difficult decisions actually require.

The practice was established in Bangkok with a deliberate intention to work differently. Rather than managing large project teams or serving dozens of clients simultaneously, we keep our client roster small. Each engagement receives sustained attention from the same people throughout — not a rotating cast of associates working from a standard playbook.

Our work has always been shaped by the belief that a leader who is willing to sit with a difficult question — rather than reaching quickly for a ready answer — is more likely to arrive at a sound conclusion. We design our engagements to support that kind of thinking.

Over the years we have worked with founders navigating complex transitions, with family businesses considering structural changes, and with organisations evaluating significant partnerships or collaborations. What these situations have in common is that the stakes are meaningful and the right path is not immediately obvious.

Our mission

To provide independent advisory support that helps organisations think through their most important decisions with the care those decisions deserve — without rushing, without pressure, and without a predetermined answer in mind.

What guides our work

  • Honesty before comfort. We say what we observe, including the things that are less convenient to hear.
  • Depth over breadth. A small number of engagements done thoroughly is worth more than many done superficially.
  • The client's voice, preserved. We support thinking; we do not replace it. The conclusions belong to the organisation.
  • Discretion as a foundation. Client information and the content of our engagements stay private, without exception.

Our Standards

How we keep the work sound

Strict confidentiality

All client information is handled under a formal confidentiality agreement. We do not share, reference, or draw on client-specific information outside the engagement in which it was shared.

Peer review of written outputs

Any document we produce for a client is reviewed by at least one other principal before delivery. This catches gaps, inconsistencies, and areas where the reasoning could be made clearer.

Plain engagement agreements

We use simple, readable agreements that set out scope, timing, fees, and confidentiality in plain language. We do not use dense boilerplate or obscure terms.

Ongoing professional development

Our principals maintain active engagement with developments in strategy, organisational thinking, and regional business practice — through reading, peer exchange, and occasional structured programmes.

End-of-engagement review

We invite honest feedback at the close of every engagement — not to gather testimonials, but to understand where the work was most and least useful, and to carry those lessons forward.

No conflicts of interest

We do not accept referral fees, commissions, or other arrangements that would create a financial interest in any particular outcome for a client. Our fee is our only income from an engagement.

Business consulting in Bangkok — a considered approach

Bangkok's business environment is distinctive. Family-owned enterprises, regional headquarters of international companies, and fast-growing local businesses all operate here alongside one another, each with different ownership dynamics, decision-making cultures, and strategic challenges. Working effectively in this environment requires not just analytical capability but a genuine familiarity with the way business relationships and decisions actually function here.

Emberlane Partners has been present in Bangkok long enough to understand these dynamics without needing to explain them to clients. We work in English and can accommodate Thai-language elements of an engagement where that is helpful. Our fees are quoted in US dollars, with payment arrangements designed to be straightforward for internationally-oriented businesses.

The consulting engagements we offer — advisory sessions for leadership, partnership evaluation, and document review — are designed to be self-contained and clearly scoped. Clients know what they are paying for, what the output will be, and how long the engagement will take. There are no open-ended retainer relationships, no scope expansion without agreement, and no ambiguity about where the work ends.
