What We Bring
The case for working with us
There are many consultants in Bangkok. What distinguishes Emberlane Partners is not a proprietary methodology or a larger team — it is the particular conditions under which the work happens: unhurried, independent, and genuinely attentive.

Six things that shape the quality of the work
Pace that serves the work
Engagements are designed to move at the right pace, not the fastest possible pace. That distinction matters when the decisions involved are significant.
No stake in the outcome
We are paid a flat fee for our time and thinking. We receive nothing based on what decision you make — which keeps our advice genuinely disinterested.
Tangible written output
The thinking that emerges from our work is captured in writing — in a form you can return to, share with others, and build on after the engagement ends.
Small roster, full attention
We limit how many engagements we carry at once. Your work is not one of twenty concurrent projects being managed at arm's length.
Regional grounding
We understand the business environment in Bangkok and across Southeast Asia — not as observers, but as practitioners who work here and have done so for years.
Fixed fees, clear scope
Every engagement has a defined scope and a clear fee agreed before the work begins. No open-ended billing, no scope creep invoiced retroactively.

Each benefit, examined
Expertise that is relevant, not just extensive
Years of experience mean little if they were accumulated doing work unlike yours. The principals at Emberlane Partners have spent their careers working specifically on the kinds of decisions our engagements address: strategic inflection points, partnership assessments, and the careful preparation of important documents. That focus produces a quality of attention that generalist consultants rarely bring.
- Deep familiarity with founder-led and family business dynamics
- Regional expertise across Southeast Asian business contexts
- Cross-disciplinary backgrounds (strategy, law, financial analysis)
A methodology built around the question, not the answer
Many consultants arrive with a framework and fit the situation to it. We take the opposite approach: we start with your actual situation and work outward from there. This takes longer and requires more flexibility, but it consistently produces thinking that is more genuinely useful to the organisation that commissioned it.
- Structured listening before any analysis begins
- Bi-weekly working sessions that build incrementally
- Written outputs reviewed and refined before delivery
Personal engagement throughout — not project management
In a typical consulting arrangement, a senior person sells the work and a more junior team delivers it. At Emberlane Partners, the principals who discuss the engagement with you are the people who do the work. There is no handoff to an associate, no briefing documents passed down a chain. Your situation is held by the people who understood it from the first conversation.
- Direct access to principals throughout the engagement
- Consistent relationship from first meeting to final output
- Prompt response to questions and communications
Fees that reflect the scope, not the market rate for prestige
Large consulting firms carry large overheads and charge accordingly. Our fees are set to reflect the actual work involved in the engagement — not to maintain a premium brand position. Clients who have worked with both large firms and boutique practices consistently note the difference in the ratio of genuine intellectual effort to total cost.
- Fixed fees from USD 190 to USD 950 depending on scope
- No retainer structure or ongoing billing commitment
- Clear deliverables agreed before work begins
Outcomes that last beyond the engagement
Consulting that produces only a presentation deck or a verbal recommendation has a short shelf life. Our outputs — a carefully structured reflection document, a written partnership evaluation, a reviewed and improved business proposal — are designed to remain useful. They are documents you can return to six months later and still find valuable.
- Written deliverables in clear, readable language
- Structured to be shared internally or with external parties
- Built to inform decisions over time, not just in the moment

What Sets Us Apart
Distinctive features of our practice
Plain-language engagement agreements
Our working agreements are written to be understood, not to impress with legal density. They set out what we will do, what we will not do, what you will receive, and what remains confidential.
Intentionally limited capacity
We do not scale beyond what allows each client to receive proper attention. If we are at capacity when you enquire, we will tell you honestly and discuss whether waiting makes sense.
Bilingual capability where it matters
While our work is conducted primarily in English, we can accommodate Thai-language elements of an engagement and can provide Thai-language written summaries of key findings where helpful.
Honest assessment over reassurance
Some advisors provide reassurance dressed as analysis. We aim to give you a clear picture of what we actually observe — including the elements that are uncomfortable — because that is the only basis for sound decisions.
